The Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) recently announced that Mr Konstantinos Konstantinopoulos, a member of the 2020-2021 Board of Directors, has been selected by the current SCA Board of Directors to take a role as SCA Board Officer in the coming year.
Konstantinos Konstantinopoulos, CEO of Coffee Island, one of the largest specialty coffee chains in Greece, has been elected by the board to succeed Juan Luis Barrios in this role as of January 1, 2021. As an active member of the Board since 2015, Mr Konstantinopoulos’ previous experience chairing the Events and Audit committees of the SCA Board of Directors, as well as his work to date with the SCA Greece Chapter where he served as National Coordinator from 2014 to 2018, will be an asset to the organization.
“It is really a great honor to be voted by my fellow board members to enter the leadership succession as Second Vice President,” said Mr Konstantinopoulos. “The SCA’s diverse communities around the world can lead the specialty coffee industry to navigate this health, social, and economic crisis. Having served for many years as a volunteer in chapter leadership and the board, I hope I can support the board, the staff, and the communities to deliver in the strategic plan we’ve set for the next five years on this journey to make coffee better,” concluded the Coffee Island CEO.
Coffee Island, one of the largest coffee chains in Europe and No.1 chain in Southern Europe, has contributed to the development and evolution of the coffee scene with significant know-how, continuous research, an innovative way of cooperation with coffee farms through direct trade, as well as with continuous investment in the training of its executives and baristas.
