According to data provided by the Hellenic Statistical Authority and processed by the Greek Association of Export and Distribution of Fruits, Vegetables and Juices, Incofruit Hellas, Greek exports of fresh fruit and vegetables for the first four months of 2021 were up 14.2% in value and 5.8% in volume. Namely, exports for the above-mentioned period in 2021 amounted to 586,096 tons and €479,239,801 in terms of value, compared to €419,565,809 and 553,961 tons exported during the same time in 2020.
It is worth noting that vegetable exports in the first quarter of this year, while they decreased by 4.3% in volume, compared to the same period in 2020 (104,563 tons compared to 109,252 tons in 2020), nevertheless recorded an increase of 12.2% in terms of value, which reached €95,514,979 (€85,143,626 in 2020).
As far as fruit exports are concerned, in the first quarter of 2021 they increased by 8.3% in volume (481,533 tons compared to 444,709 tons in 2020) and by 14.7% in value (€383,724,822 compared to €334,422,183), compared to the same period in 2020.

The best sellers

Apple exports increased by 28.1% (32,972 tons in the first quarter of 2021 compared to the 25,732 tons in 2020), while mandarins were up 65.8% (47,689 tons in the first four months of 2021 compared to 28,769 tons for the same period in 2020), oranges 5.3% (212,985 tons in 2021 compared to 202,271 tons in 2020), and strawberries 20.4% (39,042 tons for the first quarter of 2021 versus 32,419 tons in 2020).
On the contrary, there was a 5.3% decrease in lemon exports (10,236 tons in the first quarter of 2021 compared to 10,557 tons for the same period in 2020), and a 6.5% decrease in kiwi fruit exports (78,841 tons in the first four months of 2021 compared to 84,340 tons in the same period of 2020).
Finally, according to the available data, the value of all fruit increased by 31.1%, reaching €383.72 million, compared to €334,422,183 for the same period of 2020.
