Greek exports on a strong footing —3.8% increase in November 2020

Greek exports increase

Greek exports, exempting petroleum products, continue their upward course, since in November 2020 they increased by 3.8% compared to November 2019, according to the provisional data announced on 08.01.2021 by the Hellenic Statistical Authority and processed by the Institute of Export Research and Studies (ΙΕRS) established by the Greek Exporters Association (SEVE).

If one takes into consideration petroleum products, which constitute approximately 1/5 of Greek exports, then exports in November 2020 recorded a decrease of 4.2%, i.e. €113.8 million and amounted to €2,625.1 million compared to €2,738.9 million in November 2019. Respectively, imports amounted to €3,990.7 million compared to €4,405.0 in November 2019, with a decrease amounting to €414.3 million, i.e. 9.4%.

Excluding petroleum products, exports are clearly improved: from €2,012.5 million in November 2019 they amounted to €2,088.3 million in November 2020, showing an increase of €75.8 million, i.e. 3.8%.

Food exports on a steady, upward course

Food and chemical products exports have been on a steady, ascending course in November. In fact, during the January-November 2020 period, food exports amounted to €4,823.2 million (€459.1 million increase, i.e. 10.5%) and chemical exports came to €4,572.0 million (€840.8 million increase, i.e. 22.5%).

Regarding other sectors, beverage and tobacco exports in November 2020 increased by €48.4 million, i.e. 7% and exports of fats and oils by €140.2 million, i.e. 38.5%.
