Greek wine promotional event in the Netherlands

Visitors to the first “Greek Wine Festival, A Glass of Greece”, in Amersfoort, in the Netherlands, had the opportunity to taste local delicacies and wines from different parts of Greece. The event took place on December 9 and was organized by the Greek National Tourism Organization Office in the Netherlands within the context of the Greek National Tourism Organization’s 2019-2020 communication strategy, with the objective of promoting Greek wine-making and gastronomy, as well as the unique possibilities of thematic tourism offered in Greece throughout the year, in the Dutch market. The specific goals were to link tourism with Greek production and to increase interest and sales for Greek wines. Invited to the event promoting authentic Greek flavors, were tour operators who were briefed on wine tours and visits to Greek wineries, as well as opinion makers, such as media representatives and bloggers specializing in wine and beer.
Participants at the event included the Region of Crete, the Region of North Aegean, the Office Tourism of Halkidiki, the Municipality of Volos, Aegean Airlines, the Grecotel hotel chain, and the Dutch travel agents Griekse Gids Reizen and Eilandhoppen which specialize in travels to Greece.
Those who visited the Greek Wine Festival had the chance to try local products from 8 Greek destinations and 14 wines from Greek varieties produced by 8 wineries. Namely, Tselepos Winery from the Peloponnese offered Moschofilero and Agiorgitiko, Papagiannakos Bioclimatic Winery in Attica presented wines from the Savvatiano variety, Domaine Sigalas presented Assyrtiko, Foundi Estate from the Region of Macedonia offered Xinomavro wines, while Domaine Zafeirakis from Thessaly showcased the Limniona and Malagouzia varieties. Furthermore, Diamantakis Wines from Crete offered wines from Vidiano, Liatiko and Mandilari, Avantis Wines showcased the Vradiano variety, while guests also tasted the unique Samos Muscat from the Cavino Winery.
The event also included a presentation of the unique Greek truffle product from Central Greece.
