Hellenic Dairies SA: €404 million sales in 2020 – 50% account for exports

For Hellenic Dairies SA aka Olympus Dairy of brothers Michalis and Dimitris Sarantis, 2020 ended on a high note with sales of over €400 million, of which 50% accounted for exports. Namely, as announced by the group, total sales amounted to €404 million compared to €373 million in 2019, recording an increase of 8.31%.
The group’s pre-tax profits amounted to €24 million compared to €23.6 million in 2019, showing an increase of 1.69%, while its EBITDA was €52 million against €49 million in the previous year, recording an increase of 6.12%. In 2020, the value of investments amounted to €37 million (including the acquisitions of Kliafa and Doumbia mineral waters) against €24 million euros in 2019, registering an increase of 54.17%. Furthermore, last year, Hellenic Dairies SA reduced its financial expenses by 9.31%, to €5.462 million, while its depreciation was €23.391 million in 2020 compared to €21.560 million in 2019, an 8.49% increase.

An international profile

As of December 31, 2020, the group’s five factories (three in Greece, one in Romania and another one in Bulgaria) employed 1,560 people from 1,414 people in 2019. Meanwhile, foreign sales (including exports from Greece and sales in its companies in Romania and Bulgaria) increased by 18.13%, i.e. from €171 million in 2019 to €202 million in 2020, a particularly important fact, which emphasizes the scope of the company’s internationalization.
It is also worth noting that, last year, 79,000 tons of goat and sheep’s milk were imported from the three factories owned by the group and operating within the Greek market (in the regions of Trikala, Larissa, and Rodopi) compared to 61,750 tons in 2019, and 112,000 tons of cow’s milk against 105,000 tons in 2019.
