Another year, another accolade for The Clumsies, certainly one of the best and definitely among the most intriguing bars around the world. Located right in the heart of Athens, this year, the Greek capital’s renowned waterhole, reached No3 from the 6th place it held last year at the prestigious The World’s 50 Best Bars 2020 ranking.

Second Greek bar in Top 50

Athens is proving to be one hot bar hub, with everything from dive joints to some of the most unique and celebrated establishments in the world. Case in point: It is worth noting that another Athenian bar was also featured in the Top 50 list: Baba au Rum in number 31. The bar is a regular fixture among the world’s best bars and had also ranked 30th on the 2017 list. As its name says, Baba au Rum specializes in rum, offering a wide variety of flavors from which to choose.

A prestigious award

Decided by 540 judges from around the world, The World’s 50 Best Bars 2020, sponsored by Perrier, is one of the most prestigious rankings in the industry. Mark Sansom, content editor for The World’s 50 Best Bars, said: “We at 50 Best hope that the announcement of The World’s 50 Best Bars 2020 will act as a show of strength for the global bar community. It displays to the world that even in the face of the ever-shifting challenges and restrictions being thrown at them, bars are still doing everything that they can to continue to provide great hospitality experiences. As we move into the next stages of international recovery, it is vital to get the message out that bars are open for business and ready to receive guests safely and securely.”
Connaught Bar in London was named as The World’s Best Bar and joined 20 other European bars on the list. North and South America had 10 representatives on the list, Asia had 15, and Australia had three, while the Middle East one.
The list is compiled by votes from The World’s 50 Best Bars Academy, which comprises more than 540 drinks experts with 50/50 gender parity, including renowned bartenders and consultants, drinks writers, and cocktail specialists from around the world.
