Wine connects eastern Chalkidiki with Bordeaux

During a business visit by the Municipality of Aristotle, in Chalkidiki and the Chalkidiki Chamber of Commerce to Bordeaux, France, the wine networking of eastern Chalkidiki with the vineyards of the geographical axis of Arcachon – Bordeaux – Libourne, a metropolitan wine-growing region with almost 1.25 million inhabitants, was initiated.

Namely, the mayor of Aristotle, Mr Stelios Valianos presented to various travel agencies in Bordeaux the wine stations of his region in Arnaia, Megali Panagia, Gomati, and Ierissos, informing wine travellers about the image of the vineyards in Mount Athos.

Mr Valianos emphasized the uniqueness of the wine heritage of the Athos region, while the representative of the Chalkidiki Chamber of Commerce, Ms Corina Zola, focused on the way in which the professional community of the prefecture supports innovation and extroversion.

At the same event, apart from wine, tsipouro, the famous Greek spirit, was also promoted, while the autumn tsipouro festivals –the local “tsipourokazana”– were mentioned. Furthermore, “Mountovina”, a unique tsipouro from honey which is produced every year by beekeepers in the village of Arnaia at the beginning of the summer season and a PDO product, was promoted.

French travel agents are expected to visit the Municipality of Aristotle in October, in order to see and experience for themselves all they heard in the presentation and promote wine tourism.
